Round 3 at Glan y Gors proved a tough challenge for Harvey’s third race. While the track's steep elevation and power demands were difficult at 80kg, Harvey is training hard to shed

Race Report: Club 100 Junior LW – Round 3, Glan y Gors
The trip to North Wales for Round 3 at Glan y Gors (GYG) was always going to be a proper test. GYG is a stunning circuit, but it’s unforgiving—it’s a true power track with big, steep hills that demand everything the kart has to give.
To be honest, it wasn’t our easiest weekend. This was only Harvey’s third race in this series, and GYG is a difficult place to find your feet. Because the track relies so heavily on momentum, the profile really didn't play to our strengths this time around. With Harvey running at 80kg, the elevation changes were a real hurdle; you can feel the strain on the kart as it works to haul that weight up those steep climbs, and it’s frustrating to lose that crucial momentum where lighter drivers can just carry speed through. In a series like Club 100 where the karts are strictly equalized, there’s nowhere to hide and no mechanical tweaks to find extra speed—it’s all down to the driver.
That said, Harvey kept his head down and kept pushing throughout the event. We’re using this as a learning experience, not just for the rest of the season, but specifically to sharpen up for the 24-hour race at Teesside in August.
We know exactly what we need to do to bridge the gap. Harvey has been putting in the hard yards behind the scenes, training three times a week to shift that excess weight and get himself in the best possible shape. It’s a long game, and we’re already looking ahead—we have a feeling that the next circuit, Rowrah, is going to suit our style a lot better. We’ll take the lessons from the Welsh hills, keep working on the fitness, and get ready for the next challenge.
A massive thank you to our sponsors, Pavers and DSN Glazing, for their continued support of Harvey’s racing journey. We couldn’t do this without you!
