Club100 Cadet North Round 2 - Whilton Mill

Round 2 at Whilton Mill was another mixed conditions day, starting damp and greasy before drying out later on. It made the early sessions difficult, but also gave a good opportunity to work on adapting as the grip came in.

Practice was all about trying to understand where the grip was. It was a tough start, finishing P17, but things started to come together towards the end of the session.

Qualifying remained tricky with the track still evolving. Carrying a bit too much entry speed in places led to understeer, which cost lap time. A small off after clipping an apex brought the session to an early end, but Hayden was checked over and was fine. He finished P18.

The step forward came in Pre Final B.

Starting P17, Hayden showed much stronger pace and was able to race through the field, making steady progress and gaining multiple positions. He picked up another two places late in the race to finish P13.

In the B Final, he started and finished P11. It was a close race throughout with a tight group of karts, and he did well to hold position under pressure, just lacking a little bit to move further forward.

Overall, it was a positive progression day. Once the track dried, the pace was there again, and that is becoming a consistent pattern across race weekends.

The focus going forward is on bringing that level of performance into qualifying earlier in the day, which will help unlock stronger results across the full event.

Focus now shifts to the opening round of the Daniel Ricciardo Series (DRS50) at Glan Y Gors.
