BIKC 2025 Regional Finals – Teamsport Stockton
Driver: Hayden Macey
Result: 3rd Place – Qualified for National Finals
What a weekend! Hayden was representing Teamsport Liverpool for the Cadets at the 2025 BIKC Regional Finals at Teamsport Stockton. It all started with a long five-hour drive north through Storm Amy on Friday evening, making sure he was rested and ready for one of the biggest events on the indoor karting calendar.
We had been up to Stockton the week before to get some track time, learning the layout and took a lot away from those sessions. Hayden spent a lot of time on the simulator, doing reaction drills and race craft work to get ready.
Our target was a simple one, to go one better than last year and reach the final. Anything after that was a bonus.
Practice
The track was cold and slippery, so finding early grip was key. Hayden didn’t waste any time. From his first laps, he looked confident, quickly finding the limits of the kart and topping the early timing screens. It was a strong start and showed that all the preparation had paid off.
Heat 1
Each heat had a 4-minute qualifying session followed by an 8-minute rolling start race. Hayden set the tone straight away by qualifying on pole. A delay on the lighting system at the start cost him a place off the line, but he bounced back with a clean overtake to reclaim the lead and take the win. He also set a 43.740s lap, just 0.013s off the Stockton Cadet track record at the time, although that record would later be broken in the final by Hugo Macmillan, showing just how high the level of competition was.
All credit to the officials at the track, they took on board the feedback about the delay in the start lights and fixed it for the next race.
Heat 2
Hayden qualified P2 and got away cleanly, holding position through the opening laps. The kart lacked a little straight-line speed, so he couldn’t quite close on leader George, but he stayed composed, defended smartly, and finished 2nd, keeping his points strong heading into the next round.
Heat 3
Back on pole, Hayden delivered one of his most composed drives of the day. He controlled the race from lights to flag and built a healthy gap to 2nd place. Another win put him right at the top going into the semi-finals.
Semi-Final
Starting from pole again, Hayden came under a lot of pressure from Mason MacKenzie early on, but he defended calmly, positioned the kart well, and managed to break the tow after a few laps. From there, he pulled away and crossed the line first, booking his spot in the Final with full confidence.
Final
A bit of bad luck with the kart draw saw Hayden get one of the slower karts. Starting P2 behind Hugo Macmillan, with Mason close behind, he made a clean start and held position through the opening laps. Mason eventually got past on stronger pace, but Hayden stayed focused, kept tight lines, and got everything he could out of the kart. He built a comfortable gap to 4th place and held it all the way to the finish, taking 3rd overall and a well-earned podium.
Summary
Two heat wins, a semi-final win, and a podium in the Final — Hayden showed pace, precision, and composure all day. During a break between heats, trophies from the Local Finals were handed out by Lewis, the Head Instructor from Teamsport Liverpool, a nice moment for the Liverpool drivers who hadn’t collected them at their own local round.
This result not only secured 3rd place at the BIKC 2025 Regional Finals but also confirmed his spot at the BIKC 2025 Cadet National Finals. After missing out on Nationals in Leicester last year, this felt like proper redemption and a real sign of the progress he’s made in skill and mindset.
Eyes now on Teamsport Warrington for the National Finals on November 15th, and Hayden will continue preparing on and off the track, ready to make his mark on the biggest indoor stage of his career so far.
