My name is Joseph East aka known as Fish, currently competing in club100 but about to start in the uk kart series junior prokart extreme 200 championship, my other love is cricket.
My Name is Joseph I’m currently 12 years old and like most young karters I started at an indoor birthday party(for me) quickly deciding that I liked the sport I started Sunday morning academy at my local teamsport progressing through to advanced in a handful of weeks. I then started saving and with the help of my parents I bought my first helmet and now I felt like a proper driver!!, then the pandemic came and everything stopped, upon the world moving again I started rental outdoor karting with many podiums and championship contentions. Then I was introduced to club 100 where I did my evaluation and first race day where I came a lowly 58/60 , I knew what the problem was staying at home for a prolonged period of time had taken its toll on my waistline, so I vowed to get fit over winter and with the help of a treadmill I lost 10kg getting my weight down to 45kg and ready for a full season in club100 racing in the 50kg class. Had a good first year with many top 10 and a few top 5 finishes (out of 60) but the top step eluded me due to learning and the quality of other drivers, last season I learnt a lot. Come the off season I was fortunate enough to get a 2x200 prokart to keep me busy and I’ve managed to get out a fair bit in it perfecting my race craft for this season, but I’ve now come to love it more than the rotaxs, so I’ve got a new chassis and will be starting the uk kart series/British prokart championships from round 4 and settling in hopefully for a strong end to the year, and see what I can achieve as the larger kart suits me due to having a growth spurt. Outside of karting I’m a keen cricketer who plays 3/4 times during the week and every weekend when karting isn’t on, hopefully I am being put forward for county next season as the coaches have said this is the next stage, but are very mindful of my karting commitments. My end goal in an ideal world would to become an engineer, currently go into Williams Motorsport regularly as my school feed into there apprenticeship scheme and I’m fortunate that I ask enough questions to get invited back to sim, learn and be generally nosey! If you’ve got this far thanks for reading
