Championship winning Caterham racer - Competing in the Caterham 270R championship in 2024. Ben Timmons a.k.a. 'More Bottle Than Talent'
Hey there, I'm Ben – a 30-year-old from Chelmsford, Essex, who's never quite found his footing in traditional sports. But when it comes to racing, it's a whole different story.
In 2022, I stumbled upon the Caterham Academy, and suddenly, everything clicked. Racing wasn't just a pastime; it was my passion.
Fast forward a couple of years, and I've gone from rookie to contender. From grabbing 2nd place in the Caterham Academy (out of 52 cars) to clinching the top spot in Caterham Roadsport 2023, it's been an exhilarating journey of victories and lap records.
But amidst the thrill of racing, there's been a somber reminder of life's fragility. In January 2023, I lost a dear friend to blood cancer. In his honour, I launched "Racing for Ollie" – a pledge to donate my own money for each podium finish and daring overtake, turning every lap into a tribute. With fire in my belly, I pushed my “more bottle than talent” motto more than ever. And you know what? It paid off. Not only did I secure the championship title before the last race of the season, but I also secured a podium finish in the 270 category after upgrading my car for the final race of the season.
Now, as I gear up for the Caterham 270R championship, I'm not just another face in the crowd. My successful 2023 season, coupled with the "Racing for Ollie" campaign, has set the stage for an even greater journey ahead.
But let's face it – racing isn't cheap. That's where you come in. If you're up for supporting a self-deprecating, self-funded driver like myself, let's team up and chase that championship title together. So, if you're ready to join me, I'd love to hear from you. And if you've made it this far, thanks for taking the time to hear my story. Let's see where the road takes us – together.
