P2 in the first round of the Hooton indikart series

1st Podium of the year 🏆
This weekend I went to Hooton Park circuit in my XKART to compete in the 1st round of The 2025 Indikart series. This was my 1st time out since competing at Warden Law Kart Club in the JKC winter championship, last November 24.
Saturday - Practice
It was freezing! My day was mechanic, just us as the team were in Shenington. We missed the first couple of sessions due to technical issues setting up. 1st few laps took a bit of time getting back into it but I still felt quick 0.6 off the fastest on track.
The rain came down, light drizzle, for the rest of the day it went really well my lap times were the fastest on track, the damp conditions suited me.
Sunday - Race day
Qualification P4
Heat 1 P2
Heat 2 P3
Race P2
Qualification - The track was really cold and damp, I got out a couple of minutes late so missed a few laps but I finished a good 4th
Heat 1 - I got a great start taking a place on the first corner, I pushed hard gaining another place taking me to 2nd finishing P2
Heat 2 - The track had been steadily drying so it changed to slicks, changing the setup my engine mount broke🫨 I managed to source an old used one at the last minute. A huge thankyou to Andy Stockton Autocare - asautocare who managed help my dad change the mount just in time for me to get out on track. I managed to finish a decent P3.
Race - I was starting a fantastic P2, on the race start I didn't get a good start......dropping back to P5 with a large gap to P4. The Kart felt great, set up felt perfect so I pushed on and got upto P3. The driver in front was given a penalty and lost a place so I was promoted to P2
Overall it was a great weekend of good clean racing, plenty of trying challenges for my dad on mechanics but he managed to get me out each and every time mostly with the right set up. Felt good in the kart this weekend and I'm really looking forward to this year's racing.
