Summary Race Update - A busy 3 weekends

29th to 31st May 2026 - British Kart Championship held at PF International, near Grantham. Tillotson UK Series Round 3

A huge step up both in terms of track complexity and the professionalism of the circuit - the largest karting event held in the UK and it didn't disappoint. We attended for the experience as part of preparations for the Nations Cup in Valencia later in the year. Our first experience of controlled fuel and tyres having to be obtained at the circuit as part of the controls and exceptionally high scrutineering standards and stewarding. The circuit has 40 cameras which we had experience during the day with a first ever trip to the stewards. A daunting experience with 5 stewards lined up and a bank of TV screens with replay footage of the incident. Interestingly, the footage showed me to be at fault, by accident, as taking the inside on the kerb it bounced me into the path of the driver on my outside. Evidence and penalty accepted. Good to see such a high level of detail observed and being acted upon.

I finished 6th which was better than our expectations for the weekend - totally worth adding this to my experience.

6th & 7th June 2026 - Tillotson UK Series Round 4 held at Rissington Kart Club

A difficult weekend with the ageing engine struggling to keep pace with the newer karts on a track with few overtaking opportunities. That said, 8 drivers in the field were covered by 0.2 seconds comparing fastest lap times and only a further 0.3 off the fastest time. After a wet practice day, it was difficult to relearn the dry line. Good to experience a new track but a disappointing 12th place.

14th June 2026 - Clay Pigeon Kart Club Championship Round 5

Time to bounce back finishing 2 of 3 heats in 3rd place. I started the final 3rd on the grid and finishing a 2nd to achieve a podium position and my first trophy since being off Novice plates. A very satisfying day consolidating my 3rd place in the CPKC Championship.

During the above I have also had my licence upgraded to a National Licence which allows me to attend the Nations Cup without needing to request any licence dispensations.

Also, during this busy time my entry has been submitted to race at the Tillotson T4 Nations Cup in Valencia from 30th September to 4th October 2026.

Currently the engine is off to get a new long block (main engine) fitted in readiness for the Nations Cup - hopefully we will have this ready to do the next 2 rounds of the CPKC championship and final round of the Tillotson T4 UK Series in July and August.
