1ST Race in 2025 (Clay pigeon IKR)

The 1st race round in my 2025 season was a challenging one but one i have learnt alot from, They say you learn more form your mistakes or bad luck well i certainly did in this round.
It was always going too be a challenge and i didnt really know where i stood pace wise compared too the rest of the field i had done all the testing i could but testing and racing are 2 differant things.
My first taste of this was at clay pigeon in the local ikr round a circuit i know very well but very demanding and technical,Practice had me worried we were quite a ways off the pace and i thought oh god im in for a tough day here little did we know until later in the afternoon that my kart was suffering with a sticking throttle very intermitent but probably cost me 2 tenths per lap either way i still had too get on with it.
We changed tyre pressures and i went out in quali expecting the worst but was plesently surprized qualifying second in my class happy with this we set the kart up for heat 1 and started the race well i kept 2nd untill the 3rd corner a good overtake but one i was not expecting seems i may have too get my elbows out a bit more.
Pace was good i was following 1st and 2nd quite comfortably biding my time waiting for the right moment until about 3 quarters through the race 2nd place checked up on the brakes and i didnt expect it so i slightly tapped his rear and went too much on the brakes and it spun me around lesson 1 always anticipate what the driver in front is doing,After backing into the barriers a bit of damage on the rear i manage to salvage 4th so was dissapointed in that still i prepared for the pre-final with some confidence.
The pre-final was a so so race just didnt have the pace i had in the 1st heat (maybe the throttle issue was worse we dont know ) i just couldnt keep up with the front runners so i finished that race in 5th not too bad but not what i wanted.
It was all on the final race now but the heavens opened with 30mins to go too the race so we went too wets although my wets were probably inters at that point i started well, felt comfortable, kart felt unerneath me and quick the throttle was fixed but bad luck struck as the driver behind me which was his 1st race weekend (so not his fault ) tried a pass down inside but because it was wet and on the dirty side of the track he didnt anticipate the grip levels and where he braked usually this time the kart didnt slow down and he made contact with me as i turned in for the corner racing incident wrong place wrong time he continued my engine stalled so a very dissapointing end i tried too restart but no luck i had a nice veiw of the race from the side of the track though and had a good 10 minutes too think about it so i was over it by the time i was rescued.
A new series new drivers it going too be a challenge but one im looking forward too this is a learning year so we move on to the next race thanks for reading and supporting me. Elliott x
